You can use 240-hour visa-free transit
- US passports can stay up to 240 hours (10 days) without a visa when flying in from one country and on to a different country or region: for example US → Guangzhou → Hong Kong, or Hong Kong → Shenzhen → US.
- Enter at an eligible port: Guangzhou Baiyun airport, Shenzhen Bao'an airport and the main Shenzhen–Hong Kong crossings are eligible. Tell the airline at check-in that you're using 240-hour transit.
- Stay within the permitted area: Guangdong province, which includes Foshan, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
- Carry a passport valid for at least 3 more months and a confirmed onward ticket (date and seat) within 240 hours; the clock starts at midnight after you arrive. A round trip US → China → US does not qualify.

How we work it out
This is the same planner our team uses for client trips. Each kind of product is sourced in a particular district: furniture in Lecong's malls, custom kitchens, wardrobes and doors in Foshan's cabinetry factories, fabrics and leather in Longjiang, tiles, stone and sanitary ware in Chancheng and Nanzhuang, outdoor furniture in Nanhai, lighting in Guzhen (about an hour away). Busier districts get more time and a second visit for factories and prices; trips of 3 days or more get an arrival day and a last day for decisions.
Cars use our rate card (our team's car is ¥200 a day and free on days under 10 km). Hotel ranges are typical nightly rates in Foshan for the level you choose; you book directly. Fair dates and holidays come from the organisers and China's official calendar.

Questions
How many days do I need in Foshan?
Two days for a few rooms of furniture; 3–5 days for a whole house with kitchens, stone, tiles and lighting; a week if you want factory visits and the Canton Fair as well.
Which airport is best for Foshan?
Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN) is about an hour by car. Hong Kong is about 3 hours by car or under an hour by high-speed train to Guangzhou South, and is often cheaper to fly into from the US and Australia.
When is the best time to visit?
March to May and October to early December. Avoid Chinese New Year (about 27 January to 21 February 2027) and Golden Week (1–7 October), when many factories close.
